Jama Maxie is in his final year in the Specialized Honours Psychology program at York University. Jama is presently completing his thesis in the TULIP lab under the supervision of Dr. Skye Fitzpatrick. Jama has prior research experience completing an individual research project under the supervision of Jessica Sutherland, where he explored the effects of higher education on criminal justice-involved people. In addition, Jama leads the Research Experiences for Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) program which gives historically underrepresented students at York an opportunity to gain research experience in psychology labs. Jama looks forward to pursuing graduate studies in Clinical Psychology and aspires to become one of very few Black and Indigenous Clinical Psychologists in Canada.
